MARYLAND YOUTH SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
The Maryland Youth Symphony Orchestra provides the opportunity for talented young musicians to learn and perform major symphonic repertoire at a high professional level, thus providing cultural enrichment for both performer and audience.
The MYSO offers a wide variety of challenging music to its musicians. The age of performers is 12 through college age. Rehearsals take place from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM on Saturdays. Major symphonic repertoire is rehearsed and performed.
The season's first rehearsal will be September 10, 2016 at 2:00 at CCBC Catonsville
After a search for the outstanding youth orchestra in Maryland, D.C. and Virginia, the MYSO was chosen to perform in Washington’s Warner Theatre for UNICEF’s 50th anniversary celebration, hosted by Sir Peter Ustinov.
Traveled by invitation to perform in China, England, France, Italy, Scotland, Spain, and Taiwan.
Sponsor of the concerto division of the International Young Artist Piano Competition. The MYSO provides prize money and performance opportunity for the winners.
